Clearwater launches free AR preview of three downtown projects
Clearwater is offering a free smartphone-based augmented-reality preview of The Ballad Hotel, a new apartment tower and the Osceola Parking Garage. The city says the experience works on site or remotely, with no app download required.

Clearwater now has a free augmented-reality preview for three downtown construction sites, letting residents and visitors use a smartphone to see 3D models of future buildings where they are being built. The city says the tool does not require an app download and can also be used remotely through the inCitu platform.
The announcement matters for people who use downtown for parking, shopping or daily trips because the projects include housing, retail and a new public garage. The city says the goal is to help people see how the area will change before construction is finished.
What the preview shows
The Ballad Hotel is planned for 50 N. Osceola Ave. as a 10-story hotel with 158 guest rooms and ground-floor retail near Coachman Park. At 150 S. Osceola Ave., the city says a 28-story mixed-use apartment project is planned with about 400 residences, retail space and parking. The third site is the Osceola Parking Garage at 155 S. Osceola Ave., which will have 397 parking spaces and city-owned commercial space on the ground floor.
How to use it
To view it in person, the city says to find the inCitu poster on construction fencing, scan the QR code with a phone camera and follow the link. People who cannot get downtown can use the same platform remotely.
