What to know
Clearwater’s veterans and Coast Guard event starts at 9 a.m. today at Crest Lake Park, 201 S. Glenwood Ave. The city says the gathering runs until 1 p.m. and is meant to honor veterans while recognizing the 50th anniversary of U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater.
The morning begins with a 5K and 1-mile fun run/walk, then shifts to a free community picnic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. City officials say the lineup also includes live music, bounce houses, face painting and food trucks.
People who want to take part in the run can register for $20 for the 1-mile or $30 for the 5K. Participants receive a shirt, bib and finisher medal, and a portion of proceeds goes to the Coast Guard Foundation. Coast Guard members and their families can also get Nothing Bundt Cakes vouchers while supplies last.
